Eulala Tressie (Shreve) Alt, 99 of Petersburg passed away on Aug. 30, 2025, at Grant Rehabilitation & Care Center in Petersburg.
She was born on July 27, 1926, in Landes and was the daughter of the late Elvin Theodore “Eb” Shreve and Susan (Stump) Shreve.
Mrs. Alt was a 1944 graduate of Petersburg High School.
Her first job was as a cashier at the Petersburg A & P Store. After her marriage she was a lovely homemaker who enjoyed cooking, baking and gardening. She always had beautiful flowers.
She was a faithful member of Gordan Chapel United Methodist Church where she served as secretary and treasurer.
Her husband, Stanley Edwin Alt, preceded her in death in 2006.
Surviving are a son, Don S. Alt and wife, Karen of Petersburg; a granddaughter, Jenny Turner; three grandsons, Shawn Alt and wife, Trina, Scott Alt and wife, Jodie and Steven Alt and wife, Jennifer; nine great-grandchildren, Quentin Turner, Ameilia Turner, Alyssa Wolfe and husband, Tom, Cameron Alt and wife, Katie, Dakota Alt and wife, Kayla, Matthew Alt, Hannah Alt, Brynnan Alt and Cara Kirk; six great-great-grandchildren, Kennedy Alt, Waylon Alt, Wrenley Alt, Colt Shahan, Cora Wolfe and Madalyn Wolfe; a daughter-in-law, Dixie L. Alt; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Susan Alt; a son, Edwin Neal Alt; and a brother, Glenville Neal Shreve.
Funeral services were held Wednesday in the chapel of Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg with the Rev. Rita Beeman officiating. Interment was at South Branch Valley Memorial Gardens in Petersburg.
Memorial donations may be made to charity of the donor’s choice.
