Orrin Merrick, Gabriella Trail and Ava Sherman have been named outstanding students of the month for January at Pendleton County Middle/High School.
Merrick, a senior, is the January Academic Student of the Month. He is the son of Mathias and Crystal Merrick of Petersburg. He is an active member of theater where he starred in several productions at PCHS. He is on the A Honor Roll and has an OSHA 10 certification. He plans to finish his electrical tech course at South Branch Vocational Center next year to pursue an electrical career.
Trail of Franklin is the January James Huffman Responsible Student of the Month. A senior, she is the daughter of Travis and Brittany Bogan, and granddaughter of Keith and Tammy Trail. She participates in beauty pageants, including Miss Teen West Virginia USA where she was the recipient of the Sander’s Award. She also shoots competitive archery in places like Las Vegas, Chicago, and Lancaster, Pennsylvania. She is a member of National Honor Society and student council. Her plans are to attend school for radiology, specializing in mammography. She also wants to become a real estate agent and work alongside her mother.
Pendleton County Middle School presents Ava Sherman as the Student of the Month. An eighth-grade student, she is the daughter of Brittaney Walters and Josh Clayton. She and her family reside in Brandywine. She participates on the school volleyball and basketball teams. She enjoys her sports and doing nails in her free time. Her future plans are to attend New York University or James Madison University for writing.
