Officials with the Pendleton County Library sent a letter to the county commissioners stating they are losing $7,000 in funding from the state for the next fiscal year.

The Pendleton County Board of Education approved increasing the library fund by $2,000 and the county commissioners unanimously approved increasing library funding by $5,000 for the 2023 fiscal year.

Rick Gillespie informed the commission that he had been contacted by government officials that due to the National Radio Quiet Zone “they had approved a small increase in power for the Long Ridge Tower.”

“They are continuing to review other towers,” said Gillespie.

Commissioner Carl Hevener made a motion to approve the increase of the monthly utility payment for the prosecuting attorney’s office from $100 to $350. The motion was approved unanimously.

The commissioners received an estimation for steps at the rear of the county health department building.

Eddie Simpson estimated the project would cost slightly under $1,500.

Karen Pitsenbarger, county administrator, spoke with Omni Associates regarding the courthouse annex. Officials with Omni indicated they would like to have a county representative to review the electrical and plumbing requirements.

Commissioner Gene McConnell stated, “the commissioners would need to meet with them to clarify some issues about the basement for the annex.”
