The South Fork Volunteer Fire Department lit up the sky with fireworks at its annual lawn party.

By Ammie Ruddle

Food, games, music, and fireworks brought residents out on June 25 to the annual South Fork Volunteer Fire Department lawn party.

This event included a parade, raffle, food, including the Outback Steakhouse Bloomin Onion, and, for the first time, fireworks.

Assistant fire chief Seth Bowers discussed preparing for the event, “We do a porch light drive the week before and it raises enough money to buy the prizes and the food.”

Bowers added, “The event is our biggest fundraiser of the year. Basically the whole South Fork Valley just comes together.”

Fireworks began around 9 p.m. and ended with a collective round of applause.

“It’s just good to see everybody come together and support a volunteer organization,” Bowers said.
