Bobby Gene Propst, 83, of Brandywine passed away on Nov. 20, 2025, at his home.
He was born on March 25, 1942, in Franklin, the son of the late William Cecil and Beulah Mabel (Hoover) Propst.
Mr. Propst attended Capito Hill School and had worked for Propst Logging, VEPCO Dam, Rocco, and for Coolie Simmons.
He was a member of Franklin Presbyterian Church and attended Brandywine Baptist Church.
He took pride in his family and loved making memories with them. He enjoyed hunting, WWE wrestling, and watching westerns. He had a huge heart and was always passionate about others.
On April 26, 1972, he married the love of his life, Rosa Lee (Ware) Propst, who survives.
In addition to his wife, he leaves behind to cherish his memory a daughter, Angel Bodkin (Tommy) of Brandywine; two sons, Bobby “Sam” Propst (Shelly) of Upper Tract and Justin Lee Propst (Alena Mendoza) of Morgantown; three sisters, Hilda Moats (Albert) of McDowell, Virginia, and Helen Raines and Carolyn Propst (Allen Bussard), all of Franklin; a brother, William Arlie Propst of Hot Springs, Virginia; a granddaughter, Kristin Bodkin (Andre Hanes); many friends who called him “Dad”; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Shirley Lambert and Anne Weese, both of Franklin.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, John Paul Propst; and three sisters, Annie Lou Propst, Betty Wolfe, and Wanda Roberts.
Funeral services were held Tuesday in the chapel of the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin with Pastor Tim Weaver officiating. Interment was at Propst Cemetery in Franklin.
