Let the hunting season start. Squirrel season started last Saturday with the youth season. The season for everyone begins Saturday.

The month of August is in the books, but the rain during the month was good. The grass didn’t turn brown and crunchy.

High and low temperatures and precipitation for Aug. 31 through Sept. 6, followed by the same for last year, were as follows: Aug. 31 – 85°, 60° (75°, 47°), Sept. 1 – 83°, 64° (74°, 43°), Sept. 2 – 90°, 65° (73°, 45°), Sept. 3 – 90°, 66° (79°, 48°), Sept. 4 – 91°,64°, .18” (73°, 54°, .22”), Sept. 5 – 83°, 64°, .54” (84°, 55°) and Sept. 6 – 76°, 61° (76°, 63°).

Total rainfall for August was 3.92”, compared to 2.29” in August of 2025.

Year-to-date rainfall is 26.59”, compared to 36.73” for the same time period last year.
