Robert Eugene Lambert, Sr., 86, of Monterey, Virginia, passed away April 23, 2026, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg.
He was born on March 11, 1940, in Cherry Grove, a son of the late Zella and Mattie Mae (Vandevander) Lambert.
Mr. Lambert was a graduate of the former Franklin High School’s class of 1961, and that same year he would marry Dottie Lou Rohrbaugh.
Additionally, he was a member of St. John Lutheran Church located in Moyers. Throughout his life, he kept his faith in the Lord, which was very important to him.
He had previously been employed with the Virginia Department of Transportation and the Virginia Trout Company, and worked on and about the farm.
He enjoyed hunting and teaching his children to hunt. But, above all else, he truly enjoyed time together with his grandsons who he happily “took with him everywhere,” and time spent doting on his great-grandson, Garrett.
His loving wife of 65 years, Dottie Lambert, survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Rita Marie Lambert of Staunton, Virginia; a son, Robert Lambert, Jr. and wife, Kitty of Monterey, Virginia; grandsons, Travis Eugene Lambert and Christopher Samuel Lambert; great-grandsons, Garrett Samuel Lambert, Ryker Lambert, and Colt Lambert; brothers, Odell Lambert of Sugar Grove and Thurman Lambert of Baltimore, Maryland; and several special nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Hazel Bressler, Agnes Veach, Lillian Bragg, Roberta Warner, and Ella Jane Myers; and brothers, Pete Lambert, Lester Lambert, and infant, Jerry Lambert.
Following cremation and at a future date, his ashes will be inurned in the Puffenbarger Cemetery located in Possum Trot.
In recognition of the outstanding care provided to him during the past several years, memorial contributions may be made to Pendleton Manor, PO Box 700, Franklin, W.Va. 26807.
