The Sew and Sews Quilt Guild has a new service project. Guild members have been busy making chemo port seat belt pillows for Grant Memorial Cancer and Infusion Center in Petersburg. The pillows are designed to be a cushion between the seat belt and the patient’s infusion port. At the April meeting the ladies went to work and made several small and large pillows. The following day Jamey Wimer, guild member, delivered 20 pillows to the center.
The members of the guild are thankful to be able to help their community. Their last project was Comforters of Valor for the veterans of Pendleton County. More than 400 quilts were made and presented to veterans. In the past they have made quilts for children, which were donated to the local rescue squads. Next on their agenda is fidget quilts, which will be donated to the memory care section of Pendleton Manor.
