The Pendleton Middle High School drama club will be presenting a full-length comedy, “Just Another High School Play” by Brian Starchman. The play will begin at 7 p.m. today, Friday, and Saturday in the high school auditorium.
A cast of 14 students will attempt to salvage their play since the director (Vickilynn Bowman) has abandoned them to follow her dream of becoming a mini golf instructor in Mexico. Stage manager (Hannah Harvey) and assistant director (Tildon Graham) rise to the occasion by using various scripts from past performances and assignments and a great deal of improvisation. Keeping things running smoothly is their real challenge, with a rogue sound tech (Ethan Hawk), a battle of wits and a rubber chicken and balloon animal “sword” fight between Shakespeare (Orrin Merrick) and Marlowe (Matthew Cheeseman). They attempt to rewrite the history of the Salem witch trials, personalize Our Town (of Franklin), and perform Romeo and Juliet as a puppet show.
Other actors are Evie Nulph, Katelyn Myers, Colton Jackson, Emma Alexander, Zander Adams, Logan Hawk, Jonas Turner, Ellie Redmond and Addison Traub.
