Deborah Kay “Debbie” Harper, 70, of Seneca Rocks passed away on March 16, 2026, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg.
She was born on Oct. 31, 1955, in Charleston, the daughter of the late Freddie Emory and Ruby Maxine (White) Kisamore.
Mrs. Harper attended and received her diploma from Dupont High School in Belle.
She was a member of Living Waters Ministry in Petersburg and a member of The Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter #138.
She had worked at various places, including Seneca Caverns, Harper’s Country Store and Macksville Mart, and as a certified nursing assistant at Memorial Hospital in Charleston.
She took pride in her family, especially her grandchildren, and she has instilled a legacy of love in each one of them.
On May 20, 2005, she married Berlin Wright Harper, who survives in Riverton.
In addition to her husband, she leaves behind to cherish her memory a daughter, Christy Tallent (Brandon) of Morganton, North Carolina; a son, Kenneth Staten (Jennifer) of Morganton, North Carolina; four stepdaughters, Lisa Montgomery (Kenny) of Grafton, Joanie Carr (Doug) and Betsy Bland (Elvis), all of Seneca Rocks, and Amy Cook (Kacie) of Maysville; five grandchildren, Brooke, Tyler, Justin, Sammy and Stormie; eight great-grandchildren, Kinsley, Briella, Ethan, Will, Wrenley, Greylan, Aaron and Lendlee; and four stepgrandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Rosemary Bearfield; a grandson, Cody; and a great-grandson, Braydon.
Funeral services were held Saturday in the Basagic Funeral Home chapel in Franklin with Pastors Allen and Barbara Sisson officiating and a service of remembrance conducted by the OES #138. Interment was at North Fork Memorial Cemetery in Riverton.
