Pendleton County students took their math skills and social studies projects to regional competitions.
Bethany Teagarden, a fourth-grade student at Brandywine Elementary School, earned third place at the regional math competition held at Potomac State College in Keyser.
The regional social studies fair was held at Musselman. Six county students came home with honors.
Hannah Sponaugle, a student at North Fork Elementary, earned second place in the Division I State and Local category for her project “The History of Fort Seybert.”
Placing third in the Division I United States History group was Greysen Eckard from Franklin Elementary School. His project was titled “The History of the Atlanta Braves”
Division I World History honorable mention award went to Oliver Cook of NFES for his project “You’ll Never Walk Alone, the History of the Liverpool FC.”
Ross Pownell, a Pendleton County Middle School student, captured a first-place award in the Division II Anthropology section with his project “Go! Fight! Win! The Impact of Extracurricular Activities on School Climate and Culture.”
“History in These Hills: Civilian Conservation Corps,” by Hannah Heavner of PCMS, was honorable mention in Division II State and Local Studies category.
Third place in the Division II World History section went to Bella Kimble, a student at FES. Her project was titled “Those Who Challenged Hitler: Does History Remember Them as Heroes”
