Stanley Allen Bennett, 68, of Buena Vista, Virginia, passed away May 27, 2024, at River Edge Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Waynesboro, Virginia.
He was born on June 20, 1955, in Petersburg, the son of the late Luther and Mary (Hedrick) Bennett.
Mr. Bennett graduated from Circleville High School. In 2017, he retired from Harman Construction, and since 2018 he had worked for Wilhem Construction. He was a member of the Staunton Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
He was twice married and was preceded in death by his first wife, Edna Louise (Turner) Bennett on Sept. 18, 2015. On March 18, 2016, he married Patricia Lynn (Stone) Bennett, who survives.
In addition to his wife, he leaves behind to cherish his memory a son, Stanley Bennett, Jr. (Brittany) of Stuarts Draft, Virginia; two stepsons, Derek Ray of Verona, Virginia, and Joseph Pauley of Staunton, Virginia; a stepdaughter, Ashley Robertson of Buena Vista, Virginia; two sisters, Margaret Turner (Norman) of Bedford Heights, Ohio, and Patricia Woolum (Walley) of Inwood; a brother, Timothy James Bennett of Riverton; eight grandchildren, Cameron Bennett, Emmy Bennett, Anmari, Maliki, and Jazlyn Robertson, Jaden, Derek II, and Jacob Ray.
He was also preceded in death by a nephew, Anthony Paul Heavener; three brothers, Johnny Luther, Alva Gene, and Bobby Lee Bennett; and four sisters, Dora Lou Sponaugle, Ruby Smith, Bernice Virginia and Galda Lee.
Funeral services were held Saturday in the chapel of the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin with Pastor Steve Traylor officiating. Interment was at North Fork Memorial Cemetery in Riverton.
