The 60th Gordon and Lula Smith family reunion was held on Aug. 30 at the Staunton Brethren Church pavilion in Staunton, Virginia.
In attendance were the two remaining Smith children, aunt Cleo, who is 101 years old, and aunt Wanda, who is 88. It was a beautiful, clear, cool day and aunt Cleo sat where the sunshine would keep her warm.
There were 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, and two great-great-great-grandchildren present.
Nineteen spouses and friends of the family joined the group.
The Smith family lost one great-grandchild, one great-great-grandchild, and the husband of one grandchild since the reunion in 2024.
The family is becoming a group of older people. Cousin Larry was grateful that so many of the younger people continue to attend the family reunions.
Without knowing what the next year will bring, the family prays each one will live to celebrate the 2026 Gordon Smith family reunion.
