The Pendleton County boys and girls track teams each finished 11th in the Class A Region II track meet May 13 and 14 at Doddridge County High School in West Union.
The Pendleton boys squad was tied with East Hardy with eight points. Doddridge County captured the regional title with 187 points. Trinity Christian took second place with 89 points.
The Wildcats were paced by junior Gage Sites-Woods, who was second in the 1,600-meter run. Sites-Woods completed the race in a time of 4:53.27. Freshman Thunder Gill was 12th with a time of 5:53.59. Senior Caleb Lockard finished 17th in the 1,600-meter run in a time of 6:17.63. Paw Paw’s Donovan Tanouye won the 1,600-meter run in a time of 4:52.74.
Gill finished seventh in the 3,200-meter run in a time of 12:19.15. Trent Gola of Doddridge County won the race with a time of 10:49.3.
Freshman Sawyer Apple took eighth in the 300-meter hurdles in a time of 49.55. Seth Richards from Doddridge County was first with a time of 47.38.
Sites-Woods took 10th-place in shot put with a toss of 37 feet, 2 inches. Junior Evan Teter was 22nd in the event with a toss of 30 feet, 9 inches. Freshman Ryland Copley finished in 25th place with a toss of 24 feet, 9 inches. Dalton Kasekamp from Paw Paw won the event with a toss of 44 feet, 11 inches.
Freshman Isiah Lockard was 15th in the 400-meter run in a time of 1:02.16. Kylie Knight of Trinity took first in the event with a time of 53.88.
Teter placed 16th in the discus with a throw of 87 feet, 6 inches. Copley was 24th in the event with a throw of 69 feet, 8 inches. Freshman Andrew Mowery finished 27th with a throw of 60 feet, 2 inches. Sites-Woods did not place in the event due to fouling on his attempts. Kasekamp was first with a throw of 141 feet, 1 inch.
Sites-Woods was 21st in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:41.26. Trent Gola of Doddridge County won the race in a time of 2:08.35.
Apple did not place in the high jump competition due to not clearing a height in the event. Dean Keplinger of Moorefield won the event with a jump of 6 feet.
The Pendleton girls squad finished with 11 total points to take 11th place in the meet. Doddridge County cruised to the title with 175 points, followed by South Harrison with 76 points.
Junior Ryley Apple was second in the 300-meter hurdle with a time of 51.86. Abby McDonough of Doddridge County won the race with a time of 49.51.
Ryley Apple took sixth in the long jump with a leap of 14 feet, 1 1/4 inches. Josie Bell of Tygarts Valley won the event with a jump of 15 feet, 10 1/2 inches.
Freshman Laney Sites-Woods was sixth in both the 200- and 400-meter runs. She finished the 200-meter run in a time of 30.18. Trinity’s Sofia Pancoast was first in the 200 meters with a time of 27.54.
Laney Sites-Woods finished the 400-meter run in a time of 1:10.17. Pancoast was victorious in this event as well, clocking in with a time of 1:01.61.
Sophomore Breanna Wolfe finished ninth in the discus with a throw of 60 feet, 6 inches. Shellie Baughman of South Harrison captured first with a throw of 113 feet, 9 inches.
Freshman Addie Rexrode claimed 13th in the 800-meter run with a time of 3:20.91. Doddridge County’s Lexie Lamb of Doddridge County took first in the race in a time of 2:19.01.
Wolfe placed 18th in the shot put with a toss of 20 feet, 9 inches. Baughman won the event with a toss of 32 feet, 9 inches.
Rexrode also competed in the high jump but did not record a successful jump in the event.
