Shirley Jane (Armentrout) Ours, 87, of Petersburg went to be with the Lord on Sept. 17, 2026, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown after a brief illness.
She was born on April 21, 1939, in Kline and was the daughter of the late Charles Dayton Armentrout and Eva Jane (Harman) Armentrout.
Mrs. Ours was a 1957 graduate of Franklin High School.
She had worked at Petersburg Motor Company in Petersburg and sewing factories for several years. In later years, she was a caregiver.
She was a faithful member of Brake Covenant Church of the Brethren.
She was the last member of her immediate family.
Her husband, Evers T. Ours, Jr. preceded her in death on Feb. 21, 2025.
Surviving are a son, Scotty Lee Ours and wife, Martha of Petersburg; a grandson, Jeremiah “Bug” Ours; a granddaughter, Holly Beth Lyon and husband, Michael; two great-grandsons, Ethan Lyon and Isaac Lyon; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat, Simon.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Roy Dayton Armentrout, Clyde Armentrout, Loy Armentrout and Harman Lee Armentrout; and an infant sister, Bernice Grace Armentrout.
A funeral service was conducted Tuesday in the chapel of Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg with Pastor Craig Howard officiating. Interment was in Lahmansville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
