Samuel James MacMichael, 81, of Franklin passed away Jan. 3, 2024, at Grant Rehabilitation and Care Center in Petersburg.

He was born on Jan. 16, 1942, in Camden, New Jersey, the son of the late Samuel and Santa R. MacMichael.

Mr. MacMichael attended Woodbury Heights High School in New Jersey and was a member of Wayside Baptist Church.

He owned and operated MacMichael Septic Service for more than 30 years. He had also worked as a heavy equipment operator. Sam loved the outdoors and making new friends.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory a brother, Roger MacMichael of Woodbury Heights, New Jersey; and a host of friends.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Jack MacMichael.

Funeral services were held Tuesday in the chapel of the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin with Harold Mullenax officiating. Interment was on the Samuel J. MacMichael farm on Sandy Ridge.

Memories and words of comfort may be left at www.basagic.com or on Facebook at Basagic Funeral Home.
