Ruthalene E. Judy, 87, of Franklin left her earthly home on July 31, 2026, at the Pendleton Manor in Franklin.

She was born on April 23, 1939, in Friends Run, the daughter of the late Roy E. and Virginia (Bible) Bowers.

Mrs. Judy attended Friends Run Elementary School and Franklin High School.

She was a woman of strong faith, loved the Lord, and was a member of the Friends Run Church of the Brethren.

She had previously worked at Thompson’s Motel and Restaurant and Dahmer’s Restaurant, before retiring after 51 years of service as a dedicated dental assistant for Dr. Byrd Teter.

Her commitment and dedication to helping others led her to serve as a volunteer emergency medical technician for Franklin Rescue Squad.

Better known as Grammy to most, she blessed her family with limitless banana bread, brownies, super sweet lemonade, and party potatoes for every occasion. Her motto when it came to food was more is always better and one can never have too much sugar.

She loved her family and friends fiercely and always had a hug and smile for anyone she met. She never let her grandchildren leave without a hug and a kiss with a “bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck.” She will also be remembered by the comforters she made for her children, grandchildren, and many loved ones.  Her servant heart showed in everything she did.

The impact she had on others extended well beyond her immediate circle. To know her was to know genuine compassion, a heartfelt presence that brought comfort, joy, and understanding wherever she went.

She embraced life’s moments, both great and small, with a gentle spirit, and inspired those around her with her unfailing grace. Her legacy is one of kindness, devotion, resilience, and compassion. Her smile was nurturing as it radiated warmth and comfort.

On Sept. 24, 1955, she married the love of her life and her husband of 70 years, Jack Paul Judy, who survives.

In addition to her husband, she leaves behind to cherish her memory a daughter, Jacqueline “Jackie” Smith (Greg) of Franklin; four sisters, Mary Griffin of Scottsdale, Ariz., Linda Rowe of Lanham, Md., Diane Pinson (Weyman) of Albany, Ga., and Jerrie Lou Ruppert (Chuck) of Damascus, Md.; two grandchildren, Kellie Knorr and Eric Smith (Krystal); and four great-grandchildren, Izzy, Maddox, Hunter, and Braxton.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Martin Leroy “Marty” Bowers, William Eugene “Buck” Bowers and James Earl Bowers; and two sisters, Ruby Elaine Skiles, and Sue Ann Dunn.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Stephen Teter officiating. Inurnment will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Franklin.

Memorials may be made to any Pendleton County Rescue Squad.

Memories and words of comfort may be left at www.basagic.com.
