A new artisan gift shop is bringing handcrafted creativity and family-centered purpose to Franklin. On April 17, Rose & Juniper’s Artisan Gifts, owned by Amber and Anthony Christian, celebrated its official ribbon cutting and welcomed the community into a business built on craftsmanship, repurposing, and local connection.
The name Rose & Juniper comes from the Christians’ daughters, who inspired the business and remain at the heart of its mission. For the Christians, opening the shop was about more than starting a business—it was about setting an example for their children and showing them the value of building something with their own hands.
The shop offers a wide range of artisan and gift items, including jewelry by Linda Teter and crafts by Mariah Olinger. Much of the furniture and woodworking is handcrafted by Anthony Christian, while his wife contributes painted artwork and other handmade items. The shop also features work by other artisans, creating a unique shopping experience centered on craftsmanship and creativity.
Both veterans, they first began working together on creative projects while attending college. Using skills they developed through furniture flipping, woodworking, commercial carpentry, and hands-on crafting, they gradually turned a side venture into a brick-and-mortar business. Their daughters are involved as well, helping with projects such as jewelry, soaps, and gathering natural materials, making Rose & Juniper a true family effort.
The Christians said they want the shop to fill an important niche in the community by offering unique gifts and handmade items that cannot easily be found elsewhere. At the same time, they hope Rose & Juniper can become a place that supports other artisans and makers through collaboration and consignment.
Looking to the future, the couple plans to continue expanding their furniture offerings and hopes to introduce classes and workshops, including woodworking, painting, and other hands-on creative experiences. Their goal is not only to grow the business, but also to create a space where art, skill, and community come together.
Since opening, the Christians say they have felt welcomed and supported by the Franklin community and neighboring businesses. That encouragement has only strengthened their vision for the shop and its role in Pendleton County.
With its focus on handmade goods, repurposed materials, and meaningful craftsmanship, Rose & Juniper is already carving out a special place in Franklin’s small business community.
