Robert Leroy Cook, 52, of Upper Tract passed away on March 14, 2025, at Sentara RMH in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
He was born on June 25, 1972, in Petersburg, the son of Karen (Cook) Pennington of Upper Tract, WV and the late Russell Pennington.
Mr. Cook attended Upper Tract Schools and had worked for Walmart and most currently employed by Fisher Mountain Golf Course in maintenance.
He was a former member of the Upper Tract Volunteer Fire Department.
He had a passion for the great outdoors and enjoyed fishing and turkey and deer hunting. His love for his family was immeasurable.
On Jan. 23, 1996, he married Tara Ann (Barkley) Cook, who survives.
In addition to his wife, he leaves behind to cherish his memory a daughter, Kelsey Cook of Upper Tract; a son, Dakota Cook of Upper Tract; a sister, Rachel Pennington; two brothers, Rusty Pennington (Christina Arbaugh) of Circleville and Rodney Pennington of Maysville; mother-in-law, Joyce Helman (Larry); father-in-law, Kenneth Barkley (Bonnie); a sister-in-law, Elisha Shreve; a brother-in-law, Jesse Shreve; two nieces, Sierra Nicole Adamson and Hanna Pennington; a nephew, Colton Pennington; special aunts and uncles, including, Doris Jean, Larry, Donna, June, and Carol Cook; his furry friend/companion, “Rosie”; and numerous cousins.
Funeral services were held Wednesday in the chapel of the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin with Pastor Sam Harper officiating. Interment was in Cherry Hill Cemetery at Upper Tract.
