Filing period for the 2024 Primary Election closed on Jan. 27, but candidates who mailed their forms could have them accepted if postmarked by that date.
The West Virginia Secretary of State’s Office also issued clarification regarding the Pendleton County Board of Education race. The resignation of a sitting board member opened up an unexpired term. Originally, the race was set to have one for the regular seat that was up and a separate race for the unexpired term.
Clarification issued resulted in a reorganization and simplification of the race. Now the top three vote getters will be considered the winner, unless all three come from the same district. Then the fourth-place finisher will supersede the third-place vote getter.
