“We are so pleased with the grant awarded for the water line extension to further development at Fisher Mountain,” shared Laura Brown, representing Waterfront Group, the developer of the facility that includes a golf course, restaurant, and housing.

Earlier this month, West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey announced a series of statewide water infrastructure grants, which included Fisher Mountain.

The State of West Virginia added $500,000 to “a private investment from Waterfront Group, LLC (which will) provide the $2,304,000 needed for this project.”

In the past, Pendleton County officials expressed support for such a project that would also bring public water through the area used by the West Virginia State Police barracks and also Pendleton 911.

The governor’s release stated that it would “extend water service to approximately four customers in Brandywine, as well as provide water service to an anticipated home development project with approximately 200 units in Troublesome Valley.”

Brown explained that “it’s great to have financial support from the state for the overage from our initial quote in April 2023.” The former county and regional economic development director added that the award “shows there is money to be had and it’s important for local groups to seek it.”

This echoed a statement from West Virginia Treasurer Larry Pack in his meeting with Pendleton County officials at Fisher Mountain last month. He encouraged “polite,” yet persistent pursuit of these funds, assuring those present that the money is there for such projects.

Brown also praised William Wallace and Cerrone’s input, saying, “Wallace believed in both opportunities and in turn got $1 million in funds secured for Pendleton County.”
