Mary Lee Heavner, 86, of Franklin passed away July 5, 2026, at Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg.
She was born May 29, 1940, in Franklin and was the daughter of the late Russell E. Heavner and Gertrude (Lough) Heavner.
Miss Heavner was a 1958 graduate of Franklin High School and a 1961 graduate of the Rockingham Memorial Hospital School of Nursing.
She worked at Peoples Drugstore in Harrisonburg, Virginia, Franklin Garment Company and Hanover Shoe Company.
She was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and found much pleasure in spending time with her dogs and cats.
She very much enjoyed watching her great-nephew, Ty Heavner, play football for the Pendleton County Wildcats, and she was an avid fan of all West Virginia University Mountaineers sporting events.
Surviving are a son, Steve Heavner (Mandy) of Riverton; a grandson, Ben Heavner (Becky) of Seneca Rocks; a granddaughter, Hannah Heavner Nelson (John) of Lewisburg; five great-grandchildren, Tori and Tuff Heavner and Clara, Haley and Nathan Nelson; two brothers, Joe Heavner (Anna) and Jerry Heavner (Phyllis), all of Franklin; a sister-in-law, Louise Heavner of Harrisonburg, Virginia; and a number of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Diane Mason Fleishman.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, William Heavner; and two sisters, Alice Heavner and Betty Lou Heavner Mason.
The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. today at Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Mike Loudermilk officiating. Interment will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Franklin.
