Trina Mallow, the daughter of Leonard and Donna Mallow of Upper Tract, will be one of six competing for the title of 2023 West Virginia Beef Queen. The contest will be held Dec. 3 at the Mountaineer Stockman’s College at the Canaan Valley Resort in Davis.
Mallow is a freshman at Western Pennsylvania School of Taxidermy. She is a graduate of Potomac State College with an associate degree in agribusiness management. While at Potomac State she was inducted into the Sigma Tau Delta Honor Society. While in high school, she was a member of the Pendleton County FFA chapter and has received the American FFA Degree. She is a member of the Tri-County Fair beef committee and has received the beef herdsman award. She is a member of the Junior Red Angus Association and owns her own taxidermy business.
During the queen contest, contestants will compete in a speech contest, as well as go through an interview process with a panel of judges involved in the beef industry. Contestants are evaluated on presentation, speech content, extracurricular activities, and their knowledge of the beef industry. The selected queen will then be crowned at the West Virginia Beef Expo in April and will attend various events throughout the year to promote beef.
This year’s conference, which is Dec. 2-3, will bring together top livestock producers to promote the growth, development and success of livestock production in West Virginia. The conference will provide cutting-edge production and management information via industry experts and connect producers and service providers through entertaining and engaging content.
