West Virginia folklore comes alive in a thrilling new “choose your path” adventure for young readers and the young at heart.
Local author R.S. Gunn, who has walked battlefields, pulpits, and shadowed trails — her stories blurring the line between lived legend and the unknown, has released a brand-new book on Amazon, “Legends Lurk Here: Wild & Wonderful.”
This interactive survival adventure is set in the rugged hills of rural West Virginia and invites readers to choose their path as a blended family of five encounters some of Appalachia’s most legendary cryptids, including Mothman, Bigfoot, and the Flatwoods Monster. With multiple story branches and endings, the book offers readers the excitement of shaping their own fates.
“I grew up fascinated by the folklore of these mountains,” Gunn said. “This book is my way of passing that wonder on to the next generation through a story that’s as fun as it is spooky.”
“Legends Lurk Here: Wild & Wonderful” combines the thrill of a “choose your own path”-style story with the rich culture of Appalachian folklore, making it perfect for middle-grade to high school readers, as well as adults who enjoy cryptid lore.
The book is now available in paperback on Amazon and through Gunn’s website at: www.rs-gunn.com.
Gunn is the author of multiple novels, children’s books, and a devotional. An ordained minister since 2014 and a writer with a passion for folklore, Gunn blends imagination with cultural roots to create stories that celebrate the mysteries of Appalachia.
