Kennith “Kenny” Gerald Bible, 77, of Franklin passed away on April 2, 2026, at University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, Virginia.
He was born on Aug. 2, 1948, in Davis, the son of Gerald Pharris and Myrtle (Mallow) Bible.
Mr. Bible attended Mountaineer High School in Davis. He quit high school to join the United States Army and served his country honorably during the Vietnam War. The toll that his service took on him was difficult, but he was honored to serve. After his return from service, he passed his GED and went on to build a successful residential contracting business, Bible Construction. He was proud of the beautiful home that he built for his wife and children. Building was his gift and passion, and he cherished the human connections that ensued. He loved to get to know people.
He was a Christian by faith. He was a member of Mountain Top Hunting Club in Tucker County. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and shooting. He enjoyed watching West Virginia football and basketball. He believed he indeed lived the “American Dream.” Working hard allowed him to provide above and beyond for his family. This gave him great joy. He loved his family.
In 2014, he retired to his current home in Franklin with his wife, Bev. They had many wonderful years together enjoying their retirement “dream home,” feeding the chickens, gardening and playing with the grandchildren.
On Dec. 21, 1973, he married Beverly Ann (Johnson) Bible, who survives.
In addition to his wife, he leaves behind to cherish his memory his only son, David Allen Johnson (Ellen) of Thomas; two daughters, Sheila Farmer (James) and Kristin Mirenda (Daniel), all of Roanoke, Virginia; a sister, Lila Bradle of Texas; two brothers, Dwight “Davie” Bible (Debbie) of Davis and Melvin Bible of Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Frankie; and three sisters, Shirley, Shelva, and Arlena.
In honoring his wishes, his body has been cremated.
His family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. April 18 at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin. A celebration of life will follow in the funeral home chapel with military honors conducted by the U.S. Army.
Memories and words of comfort may be left at www.basagic.com.
