Born on Jan. 25, 1950, in Keyser, he was the son of the late Olie B. and Ella Marie (Dean) Kimble.

Mr. Kimble graduated in 1968 from Keyser High School.

He dedicated 42 years of his life serving as a mechanic at Dominion Power Mt. Storm Power Plant before retiring.

An outdoorsman at heart, he took pleasure in hunting, fishing and gardening. He enjoyed attending gun bashes at the local fire departments within his circle of friends and was a regular at the Chat-n-Chew Restaurant, where he started his daily routine with breakfast. He was fond of assisting his cousins on the Self Farm and cherished spending time with his grandchildren.

His life was marked by his service to his country. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, as part of the 25th Infantry, First Battalion, 8th Field Artillery. His dedication to his community continued after his service, as a member of Nancy Hanks Post # 3518, VFW, Keyser and Lodge # 662, Loyal Order of Moose, Keyser. He also attended the Sunnyside Covenant Brethren Church in New Creek.

His wife of 48 years, Cathy L. (Duckworth) Kimble, preceded him in death on Feb. 4, 2021.

Surviving are sons, Ryan Kimble and his wife, Tammy of Troy, Virginia, and Kenny Kimble of New Creek; grandchildren, Abigail and Caleb Kimble; close cousins, Tom and Bill Self, with whom he spent many good times; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

He was also preceded in death by sisters, Pam Kimble and Betty White; and a brother Olie “Buck” Kimble, Jr.

Visitation will be held from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. today at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel. Funeral services will commence at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Randy Shoemaker officiating. Interment will be at the Potomac Memorial Gardens in Keyser where graveside military honors will be accorded.
