Jerry Wayne Thompson, 83, of Hinton, Virginia, passed away Aug. 25, 2025, at his home.
He was born on Aug. 16, 1942, on Reeds Creek, the son of the late Samuel and Bessie Thompson.
Mr. Thompson was a 1960 graduate of Franklin High School and a Christian by faith.
He retired as a laborer from Graham Packaging.
His wife, Pauline (Huffman) Thompson, survives.
In addition to his wife, he leaves behind to cherish his memory two daughters, Karen Carter (Craig Thompson) of Hinton, Virginia, and Barbara Eavers (Bill) of Dayton, Virginia; a son, David Thompson (Cheryl) of Elkton, Virginia; grandchildren, Shayna Carter, Timothy Watson and Jordan Thompson; and four great-grandchildren, Jentrey, Pierce, Margaret and Benji.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Alston, Donald and Sherman; and two sisters, Peg Moyers and Lillie Smith.
A graveside service will be held at noon today at the Huffman Family Cemetery in Onego with Pastor Eric Heatwole officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Clover Hill Fire or Rescue Squad.
