Vandevander
James Russell Vandevander, 59, of Circleville passed away Sept. 13, 2026, at University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia, as the result of a motor vehicle accident earlier that evening in Highland County, Virginia.
He was born June 16, 1967, in Harrisonburg, Virginia, and was the son of Linda Susan (Arbaugh) Vandevander of Circleville and the late Harold E. “Buck” Vandevander.
Mr. Vandevander was a 1985 graduate of Circleville High School.
He worked at Walmart Distribution Center in Mt. Crawford, Virginia, for the past 21 years and attended Big Run Baptist Church.
He loved fishing, hunting, hiking, fixing things and spending time with his family.
His wife and the love of his life for 34 years, Tammy Marie (Bennett) Vandevander, survives.
Also surviving are four daughters, Lindsey Vandevander of Martinsburg, Bernice Renee Alexander (Matthew) of Maysville and Ashley Nicole Vandevander and Rebecca Arcure, both of Circleville; three sons, Jamie Eugene Morgan and Preston Lambert, both of Circleville, and Michael Benjamin Bennett (McKenna) of Dry Fork; a brother, Harold E. Vandevander, Jr. of Circleville; three sisters, Abby Cassell (Richie) of Arbovale, Joyce Shreve (Keith) of Keyser and Sylvia Hamilton of Circleville; 12 grandchildren, James, Nevaeh, Christine, Kiley, J.R., Kinsley, Bella, Paisley, Aaliyah, Israel, Kolton and Micah; and two great-grandchildren, Jamie and Oaklynn.
A funeral service was held Sept. 21 in the chapel of the Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin with Pastor Mike Lambert officiating. Interment was at the Vandevander Cemetery.
