Grace M. Hedrick, 105, of Upper Tract passed away Sept. 18, 2024, at her home.

She was born May 25, 1919, at Kline and was a daughter of the late Arthur Isaac Lough and Myrtle Susan Mallow Lough.

A 1939 graduate of Franklin High School, Mrs. Hedrick was a housewife and farmer, a cook at both Upper Tract and Franklin Elementary schools, co-owner and electrician’s assistant at Hedrick’s Electric, and a cashier at Franklin IGA.

She was a member of Mt. Hope Lutheran Church, where she was active in the Priscilla Circle, was the Kline Beavers 4-H Club leader, a member of the Upper Tract Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, and the Schmucker Community Club.

Using her antique Singer treadle sewing machine brought her much joy.  She cherished fond memories of traveling to Switzerland and Spain. She loved helping on the family farm, and continued doing chores like raking hay until the age of 97.

On Aug. 28, 1939, she married Isaac Raymond Hedrick, who preceded her in death on May 9, 1994.

Surviving are a daughter, Betty Horan of Upper Tract; a son, Jack Hedrick (Starr) of Upper Tract; two grandchildren, Lorrinda Carr (Eric) and Steven Horan (Christina); and three great-grandsons, Isaac, Hunter and Tanner Carr

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Ona R. Lough; and a sister, Catherine J. Hartman.

A funeral service was held Tuesday at Mt. Hope Lutheran Church with Pastors Paul Schafer and Angela Lambert officiating. Interment was at Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Mt. Hope Lutheran Church, c/o Trey Keyser, 70 Mallow Farm Lane, Upper Tract, WV 26866, Upper Tract Rescue Squad, PO Box 42, Upper Tract, WV  26866 or to a charity of one’s choice.
