Genavee Cornelia Wimer, 94, of Harrisonburg, Virginia, passed away May 5, 2026, at Pendleton Manor in Franklin.
She was born Sept. 22, 1931, at Smith Creek (Franklin) and was the daughter of the late Denver Ray Pennington and Clara Permelia (Lambert) Pennington.
Mrs. Wimer worked at Kawneer Manufacturing, Lee Manufacturing and was a cafeteria worker at Harrisonburg Schools.
She was a member of Garbers Church of the Brethren.
Her husband, Phillip Wimer, preceded her in death on Nov. 16, 2011.
Surviving are two daughters, Sharon Hottinger of Dayton, Virginia, and Debbie Hartman (David) of Franklin; a son, Shirl Wimer of Brandywine; two sisters, Bernice Boyce of Harrisonburg, Virginia, and Helen Evick (Cody) of Franklin; a brother, Lynwood Pennington of Franklin; six grandchildren, Troy Wimer, Shawn Hottinger, Tracy Wimer, Billie Jo Hartman, Angela Hottinger and Amy Hartman; 11 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Rosalie Simmons and Wilma Geil; and a great-grandson, Kyle Wimer.
A funeral service was held Monday at the Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin with Pastor Cathy Puffenbarger officiating. Inurnment was at Cedar Hill Cemetery at Franklin.
