The Franklin High School class of 1976 recently gathered to celebrate its 50th class reunion with an evening filled with laughter, memories and renewed friendships.
The reunion was held on June 6 at the Pendleton Senior and Family Services building in Franklin. Thirty-four classmates attended the reunion, along with a guest of their choice. A display of items from their high school days was on hand to bring back memories. A memorable display was also created in honor of 12 deceased classmates, Jeff Sinnett, Rick Champ, Tom Green, Virginia Whetzel, Sandra Newcomb Hinkle, Cathy Harper Neil, Charles Rexrode, Ricky Hevener, Winona Judy Hewitt, Violet Ruddle Thompson, Tom Propst and Tom Burgoyne. A moment of silence was held in their honor.
A delicious meal was prepared by Peggy Davis and staff.
Classmates enjoyed socializing, singing the FHS fight song and watching a video of pictures from past high school days. Several door prizes were given and we closed with singing “Country Roads”
The decision was made to meet again in five years. Classmates agreed that while 50 years have passed, the friendships and memories they share remain strong. The gathering closed with the singing “Country Roads.”
