Ethel “Pearl” Thompson

Ethel “Pearl” Thompson, 78, of Broadway, Virginia, passed away June 14, 2022, at Life Care Center in New Market, Virginia.

She was born July 15, 1943, at Franklin and was the daughter of the late Curtis Cayton and Mabel Alice (Propst) Cayton.

Mrs. Thompson was a 1962 graduate of Franklin High School and had worked at Byrd’s Restaurant, Hanover Shoe Company, Roses, Subway in Broadway, Virginia, Traditions Restaurant and Walmart.  She enjoyed word search puzzles and gardening with her husband.

On Dec. 1, 1964, she married Donald Lee Thompson, who preceded her in death on Oct. 28, 2012.

Surviving are a daughter, Debra Cayton (Lester, Jr.) of Franklin; a brother, William “Bill” Cayton (Lois) of Franklin; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Cecil Cayton; and a son, Duane David Thompson on July 21, 2021.

A funeral service was held June 17 in the chapel of the Kimble Funeral Home with Pat Godfrey officiating. Interment was at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Franklin.

Memorials may be made to Franklin Rescue Squad, PO Box 966, Franklin, WV  26807.
