Enos Heatwole Horst

Enos Heatwole Horst, 81, of Brandywine passed away March 10, 2025, at Sentara RMH in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

He was born Nov. 21, 1943, at Dayton, Virginia, and was the son of the late Lloyd Sweigart Horst and Alice Virginia Heatwole Horst.

Mr. Horst was a graduate of Eastern Mennonite High School and was a truck driver, handyman and co-owner of D&E Home Store.

He was a member of the Franklin Lions Club and attended Brandywine Baptist Church.

His first wife, Peggy Kline, preceded him in death.

His wife, Deborah Lee Pope Horst, whom he married on Aug. 6, 1975, survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Sandra “Sam” Baker of Bridgewater, Virginia; two sons, Randall Lynn Horst (Delia) of Grottoes, Virginia, and Randolph “Randy” Thompson Horst (Terri) of Bridgewater, Virginia; two sisters, Rachel Schrock of Dayton, Virginia, and Anna Miller (Gary) of Goshen, Indiana; two brothers, Amos Horst (Leta) of Harrisonburg, Virginia, and Reuben Horst (Ruth Ann) of Dayton, Virginia; five grandchildren, Chloe Horst, who was his caregiver in recent years, Brandon Horst, Becca Horst, Cory Madison and Trip Madison; two great-grandchildren, Everly Madison and Margery Madison; a sister-in-law, Martha Horst of Florida; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Horst and James Horst; and a sister-in-law, Loretta Horst.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Pine Hill Cemetery in Brandywine with Reuben Horst officiating.

A time of fellowship will follow at the Brandywine Baptist Church immediately following the graveside service.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin.
