Ellen Simmers Colaw, 73, of Hinton, Virginia, passed away on May 30, 2024, at her home.
She was born on Nov. 20, 1950, and was a daughter of the late John Samuel and Frances Irene (Lambert) Simmers.
Mrs. Colaw was a member of Mt. Bethel Church of the Brethren, where she was active in the Women’s Group. She had worked at Rockingham Redi Mix/Conmat Group.
She enjoyed watching her grandkids baseball and gymnastics, and spending time at their place in West Virginia. She was a great supporter of the Clover Hill Bucks and was part of the first base lawn chair gang.
She was united in marriage for 46 wonderful years to Leary Colaw, who survives.
Also surviving are her children, Jason (Megan) Colaw and Sherry (Andrew) Thompson; grandchildren, Tyler Colaw, Ryan Colaw, Hank Thompson and Faith Thompson; a brother, Ed (Sherri) Simmers; a niece, Kehris (Chris) Snead; and two great-nieces, Adisyn and Alexa Snead.
She was also preceded in death by granddaughters, Bethany Thompson and Allyson Thompson.
A service celebrating her life was held on Tuesday at Mt. Bethel Church of the Brethren with Revs. John Jantzi and Jack Glover officiating. Burial followed at Clover Hill Cemetery.
