Eighth Graders Win Championship Game

The Pendleton County Middle School eighth-grade basketball team has earned the Potomac Valley League championship title. After defeating Moorefield 40-38 in the semifinal, the Wildcats advanced to the championship game Feb. 23 at Capon Bridge Middle School where they beat Warm Springs 23-17. The team had an overall season record of 15-2. Members of the team were, from left, front row, Britton Lough, Colton Roberson, Travis Owens and Brennan Wyatt; and back row, Travis Heavner (head coach), Will Smith, Ty Heavner, Cole Harper, Cayson Armstrong, David Noble and Dave Eason (assistant coach). Other schools participating in the league were Petersburg, Union, East Hardy, Romney and Capon Bridge.
