The Eastern Regional Emergency Shelter is open in Moorefield, providing overnight shelter and supportive services to individuals and families across the Potomac Highlands region. The shelter currently operates Sunday through Saturday from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
The shelter serves individuals experiencing literal homelessness, as well as community members displaced due to damage to their homes that makes them uninhabitable. The facility may also operate as a warming or cooling center during periods of extreme weather.
In addition to providing a safe place to stay, housing stability coaches are on site to assist guests with housing navigation, resource coordination, and connections to supportive services that promote long-term stability.
Community support is essential to the shelter’s continued operation and growth. Donations can be made by check or securely online at www.erfrn.info. Volunteer opportunities are also available, and interested community members can register through the website.
As funding and volunteer capacity increase, the Eastern Regional Family Resource Network plans to expand the hours of operation for the emergency shelter to better meet community needs.
To reach the shelter directly, call the facility’s direct dial number at 304-530-7343. Additional information is available at www.erfrn.info.
