Dayton Kisamore, 91, of Cabins passed away on Oct. 7, 2024, at his home.

He was born on June 20, 1933, in Seneca Rocks, the son of the late Floyd Sr. and Rosa Pearl (Kimble) Kisamore.

Mr. Kisamore attended school in Seneca Rocks and the Riverside Church.

He was a self-employed mason and proudly served the country in the United States Army. He was a lifelong apiarist (beekeeper) and avid gardener. He strived to have the best looking garden in the county, with the finest crops and not a weed to be found.

He will be remembered as an honest and trustworthy man who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

On Sept. 29, 1962, he married Beggie M. Kisamore, who preceded him in death on Oct. 24, 2021.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory a daughter, Rebecca Roy of Petersburg; three sons, Mark Kisamore of Riverton, Steven Kisamore (Melody) of Maysville and Dwight Kisamore of Cabins; four sisters, Rettie Barger (Roger Lee) of Maysville, Mae Goldizen of Liberty, Gloria Bennett of Cabins and Hazel Smith of Corning, New York; a brother, Floyd Kisamore, Jr. of Louisa, Virginia; three Grandchildren, Dustin Ault (Lacey), Holly Bodkin and Hunter Kisamore; two great-grandchildren, Daryan Ault and Gwendolyn Bodkin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kelsey Ault; two brothers, Jacob “Buddy” Kisamore and Denton Kisamore; three sisters, Ressie Bible, Rosa Lee Choate and Della Marie Carr; and a daughter-in-law, Donna Kisamore.

Funeral services were held Friday in the Basagic Funeral Home chapel in Petersburg with Pastor Tommy George officiating. Interment was at Riggleman Cemetery in Cabins. Military honors will be bestowed by the U.S. Army and Grant County Veteran Honor Guard.

Memorials may be made to the family c/o Basagic Funeral Home.

Memories and words of comfort may be left at www.basagic.com or on Facebook at Basagic Funeral Home.
