Cooney, Varner, Harper Named PCM/HS Students of the Month

Pendleton County Middle/High School March students of the month are, from left, Claire Cooney, Mason Harper and Carolyn Varner.

Claire Cooney, Carolyn Varner and Mason Harper have been named outstanding students of the month for March at Pendleton County Middle/High School.

Cooney is the March Academic Student of the Month. She is the daughter of Lauren Cooney of Seneca Rocks. A senior, she is vice president of the Class of 2024. She is also an active member of the National Honor Society, student council, and yearbook club. Outside of school, she works at Yokum’s Vacationland and is a member of Mountain View Church in Circleville. Upon graduation, she plans to study elementary education and become a kindergarten teacher.

Varner is the James Huffman Responsible Student of the Month. She is sophomore and plays on the PCHS volleyball and softball teams. She is secretary of her class and a member of the pep club and bass club. She is on the A Honor Roll and works as a lifeguard during the summer. Her future plans are to become a nurse practitioner. She is the daughter of Mark and Dezira Varner of Franklin.

Harper is the Pendleton County Middle School Student of the Month. He is the son of David and Vanessa Harper of Seneca Rocks. An eighth-grade student, he is a member of the student council and 4-H Club. He plays football, basketball, and baseball for PCMS. His hobbies include sports, hunting, and fishing. His current plans are to graduate high school and then attend a business school to learn more about repair shops.
