Local violinists, Anna Blount, left, and Hannah Crawford, will perform at the Highlands Center in Monterey, Virginia.

The Highlands Community Orchestra, under the direction of Gretta Sandberg, has a fabulous concert in store beginning at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Highlands Center located at 61 Highland Center Drive in Monterey, Virginia. The concert is dedicated to the memory of Johnny H. Hill. He loved the orchestra and was a wonderful contributor.

On the program is the J.S. Bach Double Violin Concerto (first movement) played by two violinists, Anna Blount and Hannah Crawford, both of Franklin. Other pieces being performed are the finale from Ludwig van Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony and a James Bond Medley of movie favorites.

The orchestra is in its second year of performing at the Highlands Center. The performers come from all over the region with six players from Pendleton County, 13 from Pocahontas County, six players from Highland County, Virginia, and two players from Bath County, Virginia. There are three families who play together in this orchestra – three moms with their children.

Admission is free.
