Cecil Kermit Kimble, Sr., 84, of Powhatan, Virginia, and formerly of Upper Tract passed away peacefully on Oct. 8, 2025.

Born on Jan. 2, 1941, in Brushy Run, he was a son of the late Kermit and Donna Kimble.

Mr. Kimble lived a life marked by dedication to his craft, deep family ties, and a profound love for the outdoors.

A proud graduate of Franklin High School’s class of 1959, he went on to build a distinguished career as a master electrician, a member of IBEW Local in Richmond, Virginia.  His work as a lineman took him across Maryland, West Virginia and Pennsylvania, where he played a vital role in bringing power to countless communities.  In addition to his electrical expertise, he was also a highly decorated welder — skills that earned him respect among peers and colleagues alike.

His life was grounded in faith and family.  A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he found strength and purpose through his spiritual community. He was a scout master and coached little league for several years.

Outside of work and family life, he was an avid outdoorsman who felt most at home in the woods. He found joy and peace in hunting and fishing — pastimes that reflected his deep connection to nature and the land he loved.

His life was one of hard work, quiet strength, and enduring love for those around him. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.

He shared more than six decades of marriage with his beloved wife, Sharron Kimble.

Together, he and his wife raised three children, Cecil Kimble Jr. (Donna), Tressela Kimble and Joshua Kimble (Jen). His legacy continues through his 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is also remembered by his brother, Dwight Kimble.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Hartman and Linda Moyers; and a granddaughter, Emma Bateson.

A funeral service was held Sunday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Petersburg with Elder Stephen Kimble and Pastor Tommy George officiating. Interment was in Cherry Hill Cemetery at Upper Tract.

Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.kimblefuneralhome.com.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin.
