Bobby Eugene Puffenbarger, 77, of Waverly, Ohio, and formerly of Sugar Grove, beloved husband, daddy and Pap-Pap, went to his heavenly home on Jan. 23, 2026.
He was born on Aug. 23, 1948, in Stony Run and was the son of the late Lester Puffenbarger and Glenna Elizabeth (Smith) Puffenbarger.
Mr. Puffenbarger was a United States Army veteran and served in Vietnam as an aircraft maintenance crewman and helicopter door gunner. He received many awards and badges while in the Army, including The Purple Heart, Sharpshooter Badge, Bronze Star Medal, Air Medal, National Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/Device and Aircraft Crewman Badge.
After the military, he made a lifelong career out of being a heavy equipment operator for multiple construction companies through the years.
He was a member of St. Paul Independent Lutheran Church in Moyers and would often remind his daughter and grandchildren not to forget that faith in Jesus Christ is what makes one strong.
He was known for his joking personality, and he always had a smile for everyone. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, carpentry, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by all who came to know him. He was very loving, genuine and generous, and did right to his ability toward everyone important in his life.
On Dec. 21, 2021, he married Lula Spencer Puffenbarger, who survives.
He also leaves behind to cherish his memory a daughter, Bobbie Armstrong (Tracy) of Sugar Grove; two grandchildren, Kinsley Armstrong and Connor Armstrong; a sister, Loretha Bland of Dayton, Virginia; a brother, Jimmy Puffenbarger (Sharon) of Maryland; and his first wife and the mother of his daughter, Cindy Puffenbarger of Sugar Grove.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Therman Puffenbarger, and Kenneth “K D” Puffenbarger; and a sister, Charlene Parrish.
In honoring his wishes, his body has been cremated. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
