Barkley Earns Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certification

Jennifer Wimer Barkley

Jennifer Wimer Barkley earned a master of science in nursing degree in December 2025 from Frontier Nursing University in Versailles, Kentucky. She finished with a cumulative grade point average of 3.8 and received the Frances Elizabeth Kramer and FNU Student scholarships.

Barkley completed 725 clinical hours in psychiatry at Valley Health Care, St. George Medical Clinic, and William R. Sharpe Jr. Hospital, and the clinical management courses, earning the American Nurses Credentialing Center board certification as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner in January.

She is a 2021 graduate of Davis and Elkins College, where she earned a bachelor of science in nursing, a 2020 graduate of Davis and Elkins College, where she earned an associate of science in nursing, a 2017 graduate of Randolph Technical Center in Elkins, where she earned a licensed practical nurse certification; and a 1998 graduate of Circleville High School.

A native of Riverton, she is the daughter of Lucy Wimer and the late Chris Wimer, the granddaughter of the late Hoover and Hester Miller (maternal) of Seneca Rocks, and the late Harlan and Texie Wimer (paternal) of Riverton. She is married to Weylin Barkley of Harman and has two daughters, Tessa Propst and Alena Barkley.

Barkley will begin her psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner career at Potomac Valley Hospital in Keyser and Salem University.
