Ambers Wimer, 93, of Circleville passed away July 13, 2025, at Sentara RMH in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
He was born Oct. 30, 1931, on Smith Creek, the son of the late Taylor and Rebecca (Vandevander) Wimer.
Mr. Wimer had worked for Orkin in his younger years, then for the U.S. Forest Service on Spruce Knob, mowing and clearing brush. He had also worked at Gilford Townsend’s Sawmill. He was a hardworking man, who finished out his years as a farmhand until he retired.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict.
He married the love of his life, Frances (Kisamore) Wimer, who preceded him in death on Dec. 20, 2020.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his children, Carolyn Lambert of Singers Glen, Virginia, Rodney “Buddy” Wimer (Alice) of Petersburg and Charlotte Vance (Brison) of Circleville; a daughter-in-law, Wanda Wimer; grandchildren, Jody Lambert (Donna), Tonya Lambert, Bridget Riggleman (Jason), Jessica Alt (Jared), Amberly Bennett (Delmes), Shallan “Tracy” Hinkle (Brian), Deanna Fox (Andy), Adam Wimer, and Dusty Wimer; great-grandchildren, Luke and Baylee Lambert, Jayla Kite, Logan and Kyla Riggleman, Stacie and Levi Bennett, Madison and Jada Alt, Tristan and Dallas Hinkle, Mahayla and Danny Kilgore, Makayla and Greyson Wimer, and Summer Wimer; and three great-great-grandchildren, Autumn and Eli Satterfield, and Hadley Hinkle.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Gary Wayne Wimer; six brothers, Marvin, Philip, Martin, Walter, Ocie, and Arlie Wimer; three sisters, Alice Wimer, Lucy Bennett and Regana Arbaugh; a half sister, Sallie Greathouse; and a son-in-law, Varley Lambert, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today in the Basagic Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Mike Lambert officiating. Interment will be at the Wimer Cemetery in Circleville.
