Boyd Kimble, 86, of Franklin passed away Dec. 17, 2023, at Sentara RMH in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
He was born Jan. 29, 1937, in Upper Tract, the son of the late Ottis and Wilda (Judy) Kimble.
In 1954, Mr. Kimble moved to Baltimore, Maryland, where he enjoyed working at General Motors, and retired in 1989, after 30 years of service. During his retirement, he proudly worked for Basagic Funeral Homes for 30 years.
He attended Upper Tract School and Franklin High School and was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church at Deer Run. He was also a member of the Franklin Moose Lodge #769, UAW and of the “Adopt-a-Highway” Crew for more than 25 years. He had a great love of sports, all college sports and especially being involved and coaching little league baseball for many years. LeBron James was his hero, and during his stay in the hospital, the TV was tuned to him for his entertainment.
One of his biggest accomplishments was donating almost 40 gallons of blood for the American Red Cross, but his greatest passion in life was his family. He was a staunch Republican and took pride in his political views.
On Sept. 20, 1958, he married the love of his life and his wife of 65 years, Leta (Propst) Kimble, who survives.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Leta Kimble; two children, David W. Kimble (Susie) of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and Debbie Kimble Turner (Tom) of Franklin; four grandchildren, MaryAlice Allred (Tyler) of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Zachary Kimble of Gilbert, Arizona, Raven Siciliano (John) of Harrisonburg, Virginia, and Alexis Evans (Tyler) of Petersburg; three great-grandchildren, Kenley Evans, Caroline Allred, and Baylor Siciliano; two sisters, Betty Ann Alt of Gambrills, Maryland, and Sue Eskridge of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; a sister-in-law, Nancy Bilheimer (John) of Baltimore, Maryland; his “extra kid,” Sheila Torrance of Harrisonburg, Virginia; and many other special nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Weese, Sitty Dunkle, and Lucille Torrance; and a brother, Johnnie Kimble.
