Elizabeth McPhillips, 94, of Riverton and formerly of Lake County, Ohio, passed away on Aug. 5, 2023, surrounded by her loving family, at her home in Riverton.
She was born on Nov. 22, 1928, in Star Junction, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Michael and Elizabeth (Seni) Kurvc.
Mrs. Phillips was born to a coal mining family and was the youngest and last surviving sibling of six. She had worked as a secretary for a hospital while raising her four children.
She enjoyed gardening, sewing and especially spending time with her family and friends. She loved living in West Virginia where there is nothing like the glorious mountain views.
Her two husbands, Joseph Shipek (1992) and James McPhillips (2012), preceded her in death.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory a daughter, Karen Speece (Robert) of Riverton; a son, Daniel Shipek (Caren) of Blairsville, Georgia; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, Joseph Shipek, Sr. (2005) and David Shipek (2002).
Her interment will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon, Ohio.
