On July 25 and 26, family and friends of the late Isaac and Lucy Vandevander Hartman gathered for a weekend full of fun and making memories.
The weather was perfect for the hayride to start the reunion. This year’s hayride went to the former lands of William P. Hartman, on which the family cemetery is located. The views of upper Smith Creek from the high meadows are absolutely breathtaking. The tractors were furnished and driven by Adam Hott and Lynn Warner with the wagons on loan from Matt Pennybacker. Hott also furnished the hay.
The blessing for the evening meal was given by Jennifer Huffman Dudley. The meal, which is provided by the reunion, consisted of hot dogs, pork, mac and cheese and Uncrustables. Family members provided assigned side dishes. The meat was prepared by Jasper, Josh, Jay and Jordan Hartman and Darren Hedrick.
Evening entertainment was provided by Mike Eye. Natalie Chapman also provided a slide show with 350 pictures with music of past reunions from 1947-2025.
The attendance on July 26 was 128.
On July 26, David Hartman gave the very emotional lunch blessing. He also thanked everyone for all they have done to help with the reunion.
Adam and Katie Hott furnished the covered wagon for the main stage.
Rebecca Hedrick, family photographer, took pictures of first and second cousins, also requested family pictures and candid shots.
Cindy Hartman, family historian, reported family updates for 2025-2026. There were eight marriages, 17 births, and three deaths. Two of these deaths were grandchildren of Isaac and Lucy Hartman.
Recognized from the direct line of Isaac and Lucy Hartman that were present: Garry Simmons (oldest male first cousin, 88), Barbara Harman (oldest female first cousin, 87), Henry Miles Byers (youngest male, 10 months), Berkley Mae Roberts (youngest female, 21 months), Bobby and Pat Bodkin (longest married, 58 years), Dakota and Autumn Roberts (shortest married, 13 months), and Rob and Latrisha Frye (traveling the farthest, California). Hartman family reunion shirts, furnished by Joyce Calhoun and Rebecca Hedrick, were given to those recognized.
Betty Kimble, vice president, spoke about the importance of getting younger family members on the committee with help and ideas for future reunions.
Isaac Hartman purchased a double canopy with sides for the reunion to be used over raffle tables.

Treasures in the hay were provided for children ages 3-7 and 8-12. The items were furnished by Perry and Linda Simmons.
Cake walk without the cake, eight boxes with six each of Strites donuts was donated by Steven and Diana Crawford and won by Geltz, Jon Lundquist, Chapman, Eve Hott, Daisy Hartman, Tyler Lundquist, Tiffany Ah Loe and Christopher Hartman.
Water balloon toss for children 12 and under winners were Talia Ah Loe and Carly Hartman. Adult balloon toss winners were Spencer Hartman and Dusty Smith.
Egg toss for 12 and under winners were Maggie Murray and Eve Hott. Adult egg toss winners were Spencer Hartman and Dusty Smith. A box of candies and one dollar gold coin, donated by Betty Kimble, was given to each winner on the balloon and egg tosses.
Reunion attendance for July 26 was 175.
The next reunion is scheduled for July 24 and 25, 2027.
