It may be summer break but the Pendleton County Board of Education is in full swing, hiring new staff, ensuring all school buildings and structures are clean and safe, and preparing for a new school year. These are just a few things discussed at the June 21 BOE meeting.
Seven new hires will join the Pendleton County Schools staff: Maria Pomales – English Language Arts teacher (Grades 7-12) at Pendleton County Middle/High School; Tina Stuber- half-time cook at Franklin Elementary School and half-time custodian at PCMHS; Pat Alt – accountant II/secretary II at PCMHS; Emmy Champ – educator component of the parent resource center; Jessica Groves – third grade teacher at North Fork Elementary School; and Rebecca Heavner – instructional support mentor at NFES.
There was one resignation, Randy Roberson, school bus driver.
Charles Hedrick presented information regarding the possible replacement of an excess levy on the November ballot for the board members for review. It will be placed on the July 5 meeting agenda for approval.
Tim Johnson updated the members on the following facilities information: A new fork
lift was received, while the old one was sent back to see if repairs could be made, floors
in the bathrooms at PCMHS are to be completed by the first of July, work with the freezer at PCMHS was set to begin on June 27, pad measurements were done at PCMHS and NFES to complete requested padding along the walls at those schools, the gym at PCMHS will be resealed the second week of July, blacktop on Wildcat Way is still pending, and the stop sign requested at NFES will be placed later this summer.
