With broken hearts, the Hedricks announce the passing of their beloved daughter, Morgan Lee Hedrick, 25, of Upper Tract, as the result of a tragic car accident on Aug. 24, 2025, in Grant County.
She was born Jan. 25, 2000, in Harrisonburg, Virginia, the daughter of Charles F. and Renee (McCutcheon) Hedrick of Franklin.
Ms. Hedrick was a 2018 graduate of Pendleton County High School. She attended Pierpont Community College in Fairmont and received her pin as veterinary technician. She was employed by Pendleton County Schools and North Central West Virginia University Veterinary Emergency Clinic.
She was a beautiful, bright, kind, devoted, and very unique person, with a passion for caring for animals. She touched many lives and leaves behind treasured memories for those that knew her. She did not care about impressing anyone, but she left an everlasting impression on everyone’s heart. She illuminated her environment with her spirit. Her personality was infectious, and she created a ripple effect of enthusiasm. She was genuine and had a zest for life that was inspiring to her friends.
The loss is devastating to her family and friends and the pain is unimaginable and unbearable. She and her fiancé, Alex Ritter, planned to marry on Oct. 25, and there aren’t any words to adequately describe his loss.
In addition to her parents and fiancé, she leaves behind to cherish her memory a grandmother, Patricia Hedrick of Franklin; a grandfather, Guy McCutcheon (Shirley Sisson) of Franklin; two sisters, Courtney Deeds and husband, Donald of Wake Forest, North Carolina, and Maggie Hedrick and husband, Michael Hudgins of Indianapolis, Indiana; three nieces, Prya Deeds and Addie Deeds, both of Wake Forest, North Carolina, and Layla Hudgins of Indianapolis, Indiana; a nephew, Calvin Deeds of Wake Forest, North Carolina; her cats, Mika, Milo and Kitty; her dogs, Honey, Chopper and Dutchess; her snakes, Pesto, Sativa and Socket; and her pet rat, Mundy.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Nancy Hanna McCutcheon; and her grandfather, John Worth Hedrick.
In honoring her wishes, her body has been cremated.
A celebration of life gathering will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. today at Living Faith Church, with Pastor Steve Teter officiating.
