Kortney Bostic, the granddaughter of Franklin residents, was selected to attend the 2022 Disney Dreamers Academy, a select, four-day event for 100 young people.
The Disney Dreamers Academy offers career workshops, motivational talks and networking, “all designed to motivate young students to dream big,” according to its website. Thousands of young people between 13 and 19 years of age apply.
Bostic, 17, attended the academy from March 3 through March 6. In an interview, she said the experience was an amazing opportunity.
She is the daughter of Kevin and Jamie Bostic of Shenandoah, Virginia, and the granddaughter of Carolyn Critzer Gilbert and Charles and Charel Elyard, all of Franklin.
She learned some audio engineering while at the academy and plans to attend Full Sail University in Florida to become an audio engineer. She said the program taught her how to reach her full potential and how to network and present herself in a professional setting. Speakers and instructors also motivated her with kind words about her aptitude.
She was able to meet the singer Kelly Rowland, as she was a commencement speaker at the graduation.
“Dreamers meet Disney cast members, celebrities, industry experts and community leaders showcasing a myriad of career disciplines,” the Disney Dreamers website states. “Dreamers also have the opportunity to explore the magic behind the scenes and have free time to enjoy Walt Disney World Resort theme parks.”
