The PeeWee showmanship took place at the conclusion of each 4-H/FFA showmanship contest at the Tri-County Fair in Petersburg. This is the second year the event has been added to the showmanship lineup at the fair. Eligible exhibitors are those that have not met the age requirement for the 4-H/FFA junior shows. Exhibitors must use an animal that is currently being exhibited at the fair. Exhibitors can be accompanied by an adult.
PeeWee awards were sponsored by Misty Mountain Farm (Hunter and Peggy Williams) and Whispering Brook Farm (James and Jessica Pitsenbarger).
Gracie Hedrick earned the grand champion overall PeeWee sheep showman and reserve grand champion overall PeeWee goat showman awards. She also won first place in the lamb obstacle course for 6- to 8-year-old division.
Jaylynn Hedrick was named reserve champion sheep showman in the under 6-year-old division.
Other county youth participating in the contests were as follows:
Sheep — Korbett Hammer, Tuff Heavner, Jaycee Hedrick, Adelynn Miller, Scarlette Plaugher, Jonah Seymour, Olivia Seymour and Colton Whetzel;
Hogs — Ryker Lambert; and
Cattle — Norah Hubbard and Piper Hubbard.
“Elvis and Showgirl,” Britlee Basagic, a member of the Upper Tract Producers 4-H Club, and her lamb, won second place in the lamb/goat costume contest.
